The first and only time I went there was a couple of years ago with three friends, two of whom were thankfully guys. We headed uptown, having no idea how true that was. Getting off the A train on 42nd Street around 8pm on Saturday, we were greeted by the ranting crackheads milling about. Coming from Bushwick, it was nothing new. After walking a block or so, a red awning appeared, the only one on a vacant 41st St. When we walked in, everyone stared.

Long Island City's Water Taxi Beach may not open this summer, the bikini dive bar Port 41 shuttered, and the East Village has places licensed to sell hooch in the hood. Today's nightlife roundup is getting careless. A rep says they're negotiating to keep the space or obtain one like it nearby.
